A cop noir score to remember, Paul Chihara’s PRINCE OF THE CITY is now officially buyable on the beat from Quartet Records and available at specialty soundtrack dealers the world over. This epic 1981 true-life tale of NYC police corruption from Sidney Lumet (Serpico) got a haunting, impressionistic score from the trailblazing composer of Crossing Delancey and The Morning After, thematically digging into a turncoat lieutenant’s tortured soul with an evocative orchestra and moody saxophone under the conducting baton of Oscar-winning composer Georges Delerue. Now after decades on the vinyl beat, this edition gets a sumptuous audio presentation, with my liner notes featuring a new interview with Chihara on his breakout score and collaboration with Lumet. It’s great to finally arrest one of my top scores for one of my favorites films in its long-awaited CD bust HERE!

I just ordered the CD and Copland from Screen Archives. Fortunately, I have several of Paul’s concert works on vinyl that I picked up at Academy Records.
