“Internal Affairs” was a landmark noir score and film, creating a sinister, erotic ambience and alternative score as “Stormy Monday’s” Mike Figgis, teamed with “Young Guns” composers Anthony Marianelli and Brian Banks for a film noir fusion of voice, ethnic rhythm and mesmerizing electronics that took the musical genre into a new alternative realm. Doing the CD liner notes for “Internal Affairs” for La La Land Records was a particular treasure given how much I’ve loved both score and film, and I made sure to interview all of the musical contributors, as well as lead actor Andy Garcia. Now LP label Rusted Wave have ported over both my notes and Dan Goldwasser’s evocative Warm Butter Design layout to a two-LP edition (limited to 500 copies) in multiple colors that takes an futuristic score back to the OG way I first discovered movie scores.
